Denver March Pow Wow
Every Spring, the Denver March Pow Wow brings together Native Americans for a celebration of song, dance, and heritage. Around 100 tribes from around North America take part in one of the largest events of its kind. In addition to American Indians taking part are others who come to enjoy the dancing and learn about native culture. Each session begins with the Grand Entry, a procession featuring drums, dancers, flags, and ceremonial dress.
Colorado Dragon Boat Festival
It’s a celebration of pan-Asian culture that takes place every July and draws more than 100,000 people, making it the largest event of its kind between Chicago and the West Coast. In addition to the boat races, there are performing artists, festival food, martial arts demonstrations, and live music.
Evergreen Jazz Festival
A 30-minute drive away from Downtown Denver but seemingly a world away, the Evergreen Jazz Festival happens every July and is becoming well known for the level of talent it draws. Listen to music in venues ranging from a saloon to a church, all in a beautiful mountain community.
Longs Peak Scottish-Irish Highland Festival
It’s a short drive outside of Denver to Estes Park for a Rocky Mountain September event that is truly memorable. The event has more than 50 events including music and dance performances, and a variety of highland games. The festival attracts close to 100,000 attendees, with about 40,000 watching the country’s largest Celtic parade. Watch hammer throw and caber toss competitions in front of the beautiful backdrop of the Rocky Mountains.
Oktoberfest Denver
Oktoberfest in Denver happens in late September, and
As it gets closer to Halloween, more events honoring beer happen in the Mile High City. The Great American Beer Festival and the Denver Beer Fest both take place in early October. Tastings, brewery tours, and informational events take place around Denver.
Zoo Lights
The Denver Zoo lights up for the holidays beginning in early December and running through New Year’s Day. Take a wildlife safari at night surrounded by beautiful displays of holiday lights.
